Gallery 37 Celebrates National Poetry Month
Head to Milford for a special reading and art opening.
For National Poetry Month, the very cool Gallery 37 in Milford will present a special reading and art opening on April 18. During “Three at Three” at the neighboring Music School of Delaware, listen to Linda Blaskey, Jaime Brown and Gail Braune Comorat read, then view works by Linda Batchelor, Mary Page Evans, Mariah Fee, Kinda Hibrawi, Linda La Stella and Barry Moser at the gallery. Linda Blaskey is no stranger to reading at Gallery 37. A recipient of two fellowship grants from the Division of the Arts, she is the interview editor for The Broadkill Review. Her poem “Looking West Toward the Ozarks” was selected for inclusion on Best New Poets 2014, an anthology published annually by University of Virginia Press. This is just a small selection of Blaskey’s publications and awards. Jamie Brown earned his MFA from American University in Washington, D.C., and has published numerous works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama. He is the founder, publisher and editor of The Broadkill Review, as well as the first director-coordinator of the Dogfish Head Poetry Prize. He has taught at George Washington University and was the fiction editor of the Washington Review.
Gail Braune Comorat is a founding member of the Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild. In 2015 she received a fellowship from the Division of the Arts as an established professional in poetry. In 2011 she received a fellowship from the same organization as an emerging artist in poetry. Comorat has been published in Grist, Adanna, Gargoyle and The Widows’ Handbook. This will be her first reading at Gallery 37. Infused Words is visual component to the poetry reading, a show curated by Gallery 37 owner Marcia Reed. The artists either incorporated or infused words as a part of their visual statement or work. Check out a great event at a great gallery. And if you haven’t experienced Milford as an art town, this is the kind of thing that makes it so. For more, call 265-2318, or check www.marciareedpainting.com.
