Beauty Bash

Beauty Bash

When one throws a party for a bunch of women, it’s always a good idea to start with a theme and a cocktail. This year’s Beauty Bash was a perfect example of festive fun. As I stepped off the elevator to the second floor of Wilmington’s downtown Sheraton, it was abuzz with fashion-frenzied, stilettos-clad women, accessorized to the hilt. (This included pink Cosmos trimmed in matching boa feathers in many well-polished hands.) Ah yes, I was game!

The Beauty Bash is Delaware Today’s annual soirée to showcase new and up-and-coming hair salons, spas and fashion boutiques. It is where selected salons can pull out all the stops and tout their specialties and newest gadgets to keep us youthful, plumped, whitened and looking hot.

I’ve been going to the Beauty Bash since its inception, (a.k.a. the Hair Affair) and this year’s was hands down the best ever.

Here are a few of this year’s fresh new exhibitors that caught my eye:

J. McLaughlin  New preppy fashion boutique in Greenville (also in Palm Beach).

ViVi G Shoes  The newest high-end shoe store in Glenn Eagle (not to be missed).

NV Boutique  Another fresh boutique find, featuring upscale, hip clothes in Newark.

Lolita  Love this Greenville style shop. Its New York City-esque ambiance makes me think, Why go to the city when I can shop right here?

Covet Spa  Greenville’s newest full-service luxury spa, featuring exotic custom face and body treatments as well as Jane Iredale mineral makeup.

Ideal Image  “Throw that razor away” is their motto…this is one of the nicest and high-tech places to get your hair pulled out.

Plexis  Downtown’s much-needed alternative to the “Y.” This uber-hip, Zen-like gym, is definitely the “it” place to go to help keep things tightened and toned.

Running around and checking out all the booths was really eye opening, and with so many well-quaffed fashionistas in the house, the energy was infectious.

Of course the highlight of the evening was the annual fashion show. The runway was aglow with loud music and lights with fashions from Flirt, Ellie, and others. With hometown gals stepping in as “models” it was definitely not NYC fashion week, but with local fans in the audience cheering their friends on, it was so endearing… really I hope they never change.

So next year when you start seeing all the cute ads for Beauty Bash, make sure to take action, put it on your calendar, and get ready to re-charge the fashion plate within.
