The Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest Returns

Enjoy three days of beer, brats, entertainment and more.

The return of the Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest means many things: beer, bratwurst and potato salad, Bavarian dancing and more beer. If any of these things sound appealing to you, be sure to grab your stein for three days of fun, beginning Friday, Sept. 21. at 5 p.m.

The event originally began as a private party for club members, but the public was invited to attend in 1979. The opening parade—which starts this year on Friday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.—features the Muenchner Kindl, Munich Child, symbol of the city of Munich. The child is dressed in brown monk’s garb with golden stripes, similar to that of the Benedictine order that founded the city.
