Mispillion River Brewing to Host Annual Law Enforcement Fundraiser

Now in its third year, Short ‘N Stout will benefit the family of officer Shawn Brittingham.

Mispillion River Brewing will host its annual law enforcement fundraiser, Short ‘N Stout, on Saturday, June 3, from 1–6 p.m. The event, which was created three years ago in memory of Georgetown Police Officer Chad Spicer, has already raised over $19,000 for the National Criminal Enforcement Association’s Officer in Distress Fund. This fund responds to any monetary difficulties that may arise for officers and their families, before insurance or state funds are received. This year, Short ‘N Stout donations will benefit the family of officer Shawn Brittingham, whose 3-year-old daughter, Gabriella, is being treated for cancer.

Short ‘N Stout will feature a variety of free activities. The Scott Bloodsworth Band will kick off the entertainment at 1 p.m., and Human Connection will rock the house beginning at 4 p.m. Additionally, Haass’ on the Go and Po’ Boys Creole will be on-site vending food.

And of course, there will be beer. Bottles of Short ‘N Stout, a Chad Spicer-inspired beer, will be released at 1 p.m., and bottles one through 10 will be sold during the live portion of the auction. Last year, bottle one brought in $2,700. All the money raised through bottle sales is given to the fund.

Painted Stave Distilling will also be supporting the cause through its expertise: whiskey. 35 bottles of bourbon from last year’s brew of Short N’ Stout will be available to the public, and all of the proceeds will be donated back to the cause.

Entry to the event is free. Up-to-date information can be found at mispillionriverbrewing.com.
