From parades to pub crawls, there’s Irish fun for everyone in and around the First State.

 

Whether you are from Irish decent or not, St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday loved by all. The First State is getting in the spirit with loads of events leading up to the big day (which is on Sunday).

Now through March 17

Catherine Rooney’s in Trolley Square has different specials everyday, including $5 Irish coffee drinks, $6 Irish beer flights and live music. Visit their Facebook for details.

Kid Shelleen’s has food and drink specials all week long, plus the talented young ladies of McHugh School of Irish Dance will be performing on Monday at 6:30 p.m. (Monday is also kids’ night, so children 10 and younger eat free with a paying adult).

March 14-March 17

The Starboard reopens for the season and will host the Amish Outlaws on Thursday, Kristen & Johnny on Saturday and two bands on Sunday.

Thursday, March 14

Aunt Mary Pat DiSabatino is performing at The Reef. Tickets are $10 each and include comedy set, meet & greet, photos, and music. NOTE: The ticket you purchase is your reservation. No need to call ahead for a table reservation. The show will work its way around the entire space. Seating will begin at 5:30 p.m. for dinner service and the show starts at 8 p.m. Purchase single tickets under the BAR option. Specials include $4 shots and green beers. V&M Bistro is hosting its first ever St. Patrick’s celebration beginning at 4 p.m. Enjoy drinks specials, St. Patrick’s Day-inspired cocktails like the “Kiss Me I’m Irish” Martini and the “Dublin Double” plus music, giveaways and more.

Friday, March 15

The Hilton Wilmington/Christiana is teaming up with 2SP Brewing Company to host a St. Patrick’s Day-themed beer dinner. The dinner is $60 per person (all inclusive). The hotel is also offering an exclusive beer dinner room rate of $99. View the menu and learn more here.

The McAleer School of Irish Dance will be performing at the Lewes Public Library at 5 p.m.

The Delaware Humane Society is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day bake sale at Concord Pet Foods & Supplies (2800 Concord Pike, Wilmington). All proceeds will go to the shelter.

March 15-March 17

Big Chill Surf Cantina is celebrating with three days of drink specials, including $3 Miller Lite green beers, $3 green apple shots, $6 green teas, $7 Jameson shots and $7.50 car bombs.

Taco Reho will be serving corned beef and cabbage tacos.

Bethany Blues in Bethany will open at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will have $3 Jameson shots, $12 Jameson flights, $5 Guinness draught Cans and $8 Irish Crushes. Food specials include corned beef and cabbage Irish bangers corned beef Reuben. The Lewes location will offer the same specials on Sunday.

Kick off your celebration at 9 a.m. with Kegs & Eggs at Chesapeake Inn Restaurant and Marina. The annual parade begins at noon followed by the city’s annual pub crawl. Chorduroy will be playing at the Inn from 1-5 p.m. and Steal The Sky will be playing from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. (DJ Toroc will also bring the beats from 5 p.m.-close). Cover is $5 starting at 11 a.m. The Inn will host another Kegs & Eggs on March 17 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., which is $15 at the door and includes buffet and entry for the entire day.

The Deer Park Tavern will have a variety of live music all weekend, plus $2.75 green Coors Lights and $4 bloody marys from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday.

Shotgun Betty—Maryland and Delaware’s blue-collar rock party band—will be rocking out at Kelly’s Logan House, starting at 10 p.m. Kalai Irish Experience will be performing on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.

Stewart’s Brewing Co. has a whole weekend of fun planned, including drink specials and live music.

Saturday, March 16

The American Turners of Delaware will be holding its 15th Annual Irish Festival in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. and has numerous activities planned, including transportation to/from the Wilmington Irish Parade, local Irish dancers, Irish food and kid’s games & crafts and a performance of Irish singer Paul McLaughlin. Chesapeake & Maine is hosting an Irish-inspired brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. plus a special menu full of Irish favorites. The restaurant will also have Much Malarkey on tap, an Irish-like stout from Dogfish Head.

Downtown Dover gets in the Irish spirit with its St. Patrick’s festival and parade, beginning at 11 a.m. Don your green shirts, hats, wigs and more and enjoy a fun-filled day. (The parade begins at 1 p.m.)

The 44th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Hooley is sponsored by the Irish Culture Club of Delaware. The fun begins at noon. After the parade, head to New Castle County Irish Society’s St. Patrick’s Parade and After Party from 1 to 6 p.m. The music of John Kelly will be featured from 2 to 6 p.m. There will be a cash bar and food will be available for eat-in or take-out (no food or beverages can be brought in). Head to Klondike Kate’s Restaurant & Saloon â€¨for the Get Lucky 5K. After the race grab a pint and some shepherd’s pie. Each participant will receive a Get Lucky 5K pint glass. The race begins at 9 a.m. and tickets are $25.

Sweet Leda is performing at The Pond. The show is free and starts at 10 p.m. Plot Twist performs on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Wild Quail Golf and Country Club is hosting a Shamrock Scramble 5K Run/Walk, which will take you through the beautiful residential and golf areas. The race supports Kay’s Kamp, which provides children 5-17 currently battling cancer and those now in remission the opportunity to participate in a unique camping experience promoting fun and normalcy. The race begins at 9 a.m. and tickets are $20, purchase them here.

Enjoy the start of St. Patrick’s Day weekend aboard the Wilmington & Western Railroad. Bellefonte Brewing Company will be supplying the beer for the 90-minute train ride. Tickets are $25 per person. All riders must be 21 or over. The train leaves the station at 4 p.m.—get your tickets here.

Sunday, March 17

The fun begins at 11 a.m. at Argilla Brewing Co. at Pietro’s with plenty of toe-tapping music to get you on your feet.

Big Oyster Brewery & Kitchen is celebrating from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. with live music by Jefe from 1-6 p.m. Featured beers include Shamrock Dreamsicle and Irish Dry Stout. There will also be a Leprechaun hunt plus happy hour food and drink specials. Register for the event here.

Crabby Dicks in Delaware City is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day Bash from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

  • Box Turtle Bob live in the pavilion from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Delaware Museum of Natural History is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Stuffed Animal Clinic. Bring your favorite cuddly stuffed critter to the Museum for a checkup with the stuffed animal doctor. Your beloved friend will receive some tender loving care and a special prescription for a healing touch before settling down for story time, “tea” and a delicious treat. Wear green to Goolee’s Grille for the Drag Brunch, beginning at 12:30 p.m. For $46 you get unlimited mimosas, bloody marys and special entrees. Reservations are limited to 60 people—call (302) 227-7653.

Harvest Ridge Winery is hosting an adult treasure hunt. Find hidden clovers at the winery in search of the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Special prizes will be in hidden in each clover (limit to finding three clovers per person). Tickets are $15 per person and are limited to 50 people. The event is from 1-3 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets will include a glass of green cider.

Iron Hill Brewery in Rehoboth is hosting a three-course kegs & eggs beer brunch. Tickets are $35 per person and reservations are required; call 260-8000 or visit their website.

Murph’s Beef & Ale opens at 9 a.m. with a traditional Irish breakfast plus $3 green beer, $4 Smithwicks and Harp bottles, $5 Jameson shots and $1 Irish shooters.

The Rusty Rudder has live music starting at noon and is offering a free breakfast buffet with the purchase of your first drink.

Sheridan’s Irish Pub opens at 9 a.m. and is giving away t-shirts to the first 50 guests. There is no cover until 11 a.m. and there be bagpipers at 2 p.m.

Jam out to Lyric Drive at Trolley Tap House from 2-6 p.m. The Wilmington band plays a variety of acoustic, funk, R&B, folk and rock songs.
