Celebrate Pi Day 2018 at One of These 7 Spots

No matter how you slice it, this excuse to indulge is not to be missed.

Happy Pi Day! This annual celebration is observed on March 14 (3/14) since 3, 1 and 4 are the first three digits of the mathematical constant pi (π). Celebrate everything you’ve forgotten from high school calculus at one of these local bakeries or restaurants.

Big Fish Grill

Although the restaurant is best known for its seafood, salads and raw bar, diners come from far and wide for a massive slice of peanut butter pie. It’s big enough to share (but who says you have to?). • Multiple locations

Bing’s Bakery

Along with the traditional favorites, Delaware's longest-running bakery offers a wide selection of cream pies, including Boston, coconut and chocolate cream.  253 E. Main St., Newark, 737-5310

Dutch Country Market

The market offers pies from McClure’s Bakery in Amish country. Satisfy your sweet tooth with the sticky Shoo Fly pie. You can also snag fry pies (similar to turnovers) and whoopie pies.  11233 Trussum Pond Road, Laurel, 875-1678

Grotto Pizza Pi Day 5K

Grotto Pizza and Fusion Race Timing are hosting a family-friendly 5K race at Glasgow Park starting at 6 p.m. on Pi Day. Runners will receive post-race Grotto’s pizza, plus a pizza cutter that doubles as a bottle opener. Registration is $20. (And if you don't feel like running, you can join Grotto's Swirl Rewards Club and get yourself a free slice.)  Glasgow Park Route 40, Newark

Off the Hook

The key lime pie here draws rave reviews.  769 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach,

Serpe & Sons Bakery

Yes, this spot has all the sweet staples, including apple, cherry and coconut cream. But what people really go nuts for is the savory tomato pie—available in a full tray, half tray or by the slice.  1411 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, 994-1868

Sweet Somethings Desserts

Bored with apple or pecan? Indulge in the lemon cream or white chocolate banana cream pie.  1006 N. Union St., Wilmington, 655-7211
