Excitement is building for the 19th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Chesapeake City, Md., this Saturday, March 17. And there's a new stop on the town's pub crawl this year: Bayheads Brewing Company, a modest taproom owned by three high school friends, celebrates its grand opening the same day.

Owned by Jason Zang, Bill Dix and Charlie Copeland—who first met at Bohemia Manor High School—Bayheads Brewing Company is described as a “start-up nano brewery that embodies the spirit of Chesapeake City.”

Says Zang: “We’re just three small-town guys [who] went to high school together who are trying to bring a local community feel to Chesapeake City.”

Zang, Dix and Copeland are all involved in the brewing process, which they have been doing together for years. On Saturday they plan to have nine beers on tap, including everything from a traditional IPA to an Irish Stout. A 16-ounce pint typically sells for $5.50, but prices will vary depending on the beer style and alcohol content.

Growlers will also be available for purchase—and if you bring your own empty growler, you can score a 64-ounce beer refill for around $13.

Bayheads is located in the South Village shopping center (which is in the same shopping center as Maria’s Italian Restaurant, and less than a mile from the Chesapeake Inn). While the brewery does not have a kitchen, Crave Eatery Food Truck will be on site Saturday.

Doors will officially open on Saturday at 11 a.m., and will close at 9 p.m. The brewery will open again on Sunday, March 18, from noon-6 p.m. Beginning Thursday, March 22, regular hours will be 5–9 p.m. on Thursdays, 5–10 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m.–9 p.m on Sundays.)
