The Sun is Setting at Half Moon Restaurant & Saloon

Newark’s Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen owners will take over and open Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen Kennett Square in April.

Get those crab nachos while you still can. The beloved Half Moon Restaurant & Saloon in Kennett Square, Pa., recently announced it is closing on Saturday, March 11. Owners Scott and Kristin Hammond have decided to retire after almost 20 years of serving wild game chili and bison burgers. But they are turning things over to new managing partners: Lee Mikles and Jim O’Donoghue of Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen.

Mikles says they hope to open Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen Kennett Square as quickly as possible after a minor makeover. “The location is amazing,” says Mikles. “And the patio—wow! We hope to add some of the creative touches from Grain in Newark with live-edge wood, live music and an open feel. The core menu will be the same across all locations, although each chef will be able to come up with off-menu features unique to that location.”
