Opening in Smyrna: Brick Works Brewing and Eats

Local restaurant owners partner to bring a new brewpub to Kent County.

Kevin Reading of Abbott’s Grill, and Eric Williams and Ryan Maloney of Mispillion River Brewing, have partnered to bring Brick Works Brewing and Eats to Smyrna.

Brick Works, which is slated to open on Thursday, June 16 at 4 p.m., will focus on integrating house-made beers with menu items that utilize locally sourced ingredients. Owners have tapped Paul Gallo, former executive chef at Abbott’s Grill, to run the operation. Gallo brings 19 years of restaurant experience to the table.

Craft beer drinkers can expect to see a wide variety of beers from the on-site, 7-barrel brew house. Initially, there will be four taps of Brick Works’ beers and six guest taps for other local beers. Diners will experience artfully constructed appetizers and entrees from a harvest of Delaware’s farms and ranches. Menu items include a signature brisket burger, shrimp and grits, and a smoked salmon BLT, in addition to a few bierhaus-inspired German dishes.

Eric Williams states, “When the opportunity to bring a brewpub to Smyrna was offered to us, we were thrilled. Smyrna has an amazing history, burgeoning businesses and strong culture we wished to join. We believe that our restaurant will be a great addition to the culture of the community.”
