Greetings From NewarkIf you haven’t planned your Saturday yet, make sure it includes the Downtown Newark Food and Brew Fest. It is American Beer Month, after all. From 2 p.m. till 10 p.m., 17 downtown restaurants will offer tapas menus to pair with their featured brews—about 40 craft beers and imports overall. Start early. The first 2,500 participants get a Food & Brew Fest commemorative tasting mug, which can be filled with any of the featured beers at any of the participating restaurants for $1. Find your program at the information booth at 82 E. Main St., in front of the M&T-Wilmington Trust bank. There’s more than beer, such as the Hops and Shops. The sidewalk sale starts at noon. 07/12/11The Dining Insider: Betty’s Restaurant in Rehoboth hosts Men and Beer, Wilmington Beer Week offers a Citywide Happy Hour and the Delaware State Fair Holds Cooking Contests
First there was Women and Wine at local restaurants. Now there is Men and Beer. Yes, Betty’s Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach will host a multi-course meal of original dishes with craft beers from Brooklyn Brewery on July 18. That means John Wayne movies with small plates by head chef Jesse Howell and Ben King of Brooklyn Brewery to explain the brews. Brooklyn Brewery, of Brooklyn, natch, has become one of the top 40 breweries in the country and the winner of national and international awards. So check it out. And if you like it, head back to Betty’s on August 17 for another special dinner featuring beer from Tröegs Brewing Company of Harrisburg, Pa. (645-6160)
