A Holiday Winter Tour

Brunch at Winterthur, boxed wine at Lamberti's and cookie trays everywhere else.

Now: When you're dealing in terms like French toast casserole and smoked salmon, you better believe brunch is at hand.

And brunch doesn't get much more urbane than the Sunday Champagne Holiday Brunch at Winterthur, a place that's already known to get a little dressed up for the holidays. Every Sunday between now and January 2, head to the visitor's center pavilion at Winterthur for a weekly round of sweet-and-savory ham, chunky celery soup and a bunch of other things that are neither particularly breakfast-y nor brunch-y. Full menu is here.

Brunch starts each Sunday at 10 a.m. Call 888-4826, or email brunch@winterthur.org to make reservations. Cost is $27.95 per person.

Wednesday, December 1: Santa Fe Wilmington, the latest subject of a Delaware Today Savor review, announced via Facebook that it's unveiling some new menu items this week. Starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday and running through Friday, Santa Fe staffers will offer new menu samples and half-price entrées during its nightly happy hour.

The new menu features some popular dishes from Santa Fe's Newark location, such as:

Empanadas
Arepas con chorizo
Cancun Fajitas
Guacamole Table-side
Tamales
Brunch menu items

Reservations are recommended, so call 425-5200 to make yours.

Thursday, December 2: Lamberti’s Italian Grill & Bar, the longstanding, family-friendly spot, is hosting a wine dinner Thursday featuring wines and cocktails brewed up by Lancaster, Pennsylvania's Tamanend Winery, a producer known for sweet wines and ever-popular boxed wines.

Lamberti’s Philadelphia Pike location in Wilmington is the spot Thursday where six courses will get paired with a complementing wine. Here's a gander at the menu:

Antipasto with roasted red peppers, prosciutto, garlic, olive oil, tomato, basil and mozzarella paired with LNO (Like No Other) Orange Margarita Wine

Mussels in red sauce with sliced garlic paired with Irresistible Riesling

Spring mix salad with fresh squeezed lemon juice paired with Moonstone Chardonnay

Homemade seafood ravioli with baby shrimp, scallops, crab and lobster in an Aurora Blush Cream Sauce paired with Moonstone Chardonnay

Chicken Amalfi with white wine, garlic, butter, tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms and broccoli topped with seasoned breadcrumbs paired with 2003 American Beauty Cabernet Franc

Key lime pie served with fresh strawberries paired with Azul D’Oro Port Style

Cost is a paltry $50 per guest. Call 762-9094, or visit www.lambertisdelaware.com for more details.

COOOOOOKIES: In case the incessant, unavoidable holiday music playing at every. Single. Store. On. The. Planet. hasn't tipped you off, the time to start thinking about the holidays is here.

For a lot of people that means ordering food and treats for the gauntlet of parties, get togethers and box socials scheduled between now and the new year. Lucky for you, I already did the leg work, at least on the cookie tip. Check out this link for a few of our favorite local cookie monsters and information on ordering for the holidays. Don't forget the milk.
